With shining, red hair, stunning blue eyes and lovely
freckles, Jamie Rose is one of Hollywood most charming faces - to say
the least.
Today, Rose is a known, respected pro, although she still has
not reached the popularity she deserves. So, I hope this page will
help in getting you more familiar with Jamie, my favourite actress,
and I hope you can become fans of her.
* Born to be a star
Jamie Rose was born in New York City (November 26th, 1960); her family moved to Fresno, California, when she was a child. Jamie made her TV debut when she was 5. Her first appearances: TV commercials and episodes of "Green Acres" and "Family Affair". At 13, she decided to retire. But at 18 she was back in L.A. and soon she got an important part in the TV serial Falcon Crest (1981), playing Victoria Gioberti-Hogan. During that period (1981-1983), Rose also had time for some guest shots in movies and TV movies. After her character was dropped from the show, Rose got some guest shots in TV series and starred in some movies. In terms of artistic value, probably the best movie she starred in was Heartbreakers (1984). Another important movie in which she played in was Clint Eastwood's Tightrope.
* The Lady in Blue
After Falcon Crest, Rose had her fifteen minutes of fame playing the title character in Lady Blue (1985-86) for which she is still best remembered: the lovely girl had become a though, undercover cop (Jamie was nicknamed "Dirty Harriet") fighting for the law in the Chicago streets. In this show, her co-star was Danny Aiello. However, in spite of her great performance, the show did not survive the first season. "Lady Blue" was canceled after 12 episodes - during that time, the show was often accused of being "too violent".
After "Lady Blue", Rose continued working mostly for TV: after a short appearance on Amazing Stories, playing in an episode directed by Clint Eastwood, she starred in some TV movies (Rebel Love, Florida Flight 90) and got a major role on the TV series "St. Elsewhere".
* A Touch of Horror
The late 80s seemed to record a new direction in her career. Rose starred in Playroom and Chopper Chicks in Zombietown, two low-budget horror movies. Certainly not two masterpieces (the latter, however, is a Troma production - a cult movie, in a way) also those movies contributed to establish her popularity as a B-movie queen.
* Femme fatale?
The Nineties seem to mark the beginning of a new age for Rose's career. In 1991, Rose starred in a Columbo TV movie (Death hits the Jackpot, 1991), successfully playing a ravishing dark lady. Since then, Jamie has been working intensively, mostly for television. Big audiences certainly remember her as detective Stacey Halmora, in Chicago Hope. Also during these last years, she appeared as a guest star in other TV shows, ("Viper", "Nowhere Man", The Sentinel) and starred with actor Gary Busey in a feature movie (The Chain, 1996).
But Jamie probably gave her best in a number of parts in which she played the wicked lady (Hardball, Columbo and Renegade), with strikingly good results.
Fifteen years after being the lovely girl next door in
"Falcon Crest", Jamie Rose seems to have found her way in Hollywood,
emerging as Hollywood's ultimate dark lady - but with a touch of
sense of humour too ("Weird Science").
Jamie Rose has been working intensively, lately, and she is appearing
quite often as a guest star in a number of TV shows and - needless to
say - she looks more and more charming.
Now, I think time is due for her to come back with a leading role. What do you think about that?
