(1981-83)
(Victoria Gioberti-Hogan)
Her character was written out during the third season of the show, when all of a sudden CBS executives decided to give the show a new direction. In fact, as Jamie herself later recalled, the character of Victoria seemed to have little potential for further development.
"The only kind of storyline she could have was to be in love, and she was related to practically every character in the show. Who was she going to go to bed with?"
(Jamie Rose, as interviewed on TV Guide, November 2-8, 1985).
(1985-86)
One pilot (60') and 12 episodes of 45' each, ABC.
The pilot got good ratings (it finished seventh in
the ratings the week it aired) and next season ABC decided to give
the show a chance in prime time.
The producer of the show, David Gerber, decided to hire Jamie after
seeing her playing on a "Jessie" episode (playing an undercover cop).
One week later, Jamie was ready to shoot - in both senses.
"I had only a week to prepare for the role, and I had never fired or handled a gun before. So I went down to the police department and shot for a couple of hours. Luckily, I was good immediately. (...) Then, I rented all the Clint Eastwood "Dirty Harry" movies and played them on my VCR. I took a copy of the gun home (a .357 magnum), watched all of Clint's gun moves and emulated him".
(Jamie Rose, as interviewed on TV Guide, August 10-16, 1985.)
Unfortunately, the show ended to be not very successfull, and controversial too. Some accused it of being "too violent". During one episode, more than 50 acts of violence were reported. Not bad, for a 45-minute show!
To date, "Lady Blue" is Rose's major accomplishment. For the first time, with "Lady Blue" Jamie got the title character - playing detective Kate Mahoney, a tough cop of the Chicago Police Department. Her co-star was Danny Aiello (as the chief of the detectives).
(1986-88)
(Dr. Susan Birch)
Series 5, episodes 2, 3, 5 and 6:
"When You Wish Upon a Scar"
"A Room With A View"
"You Beta Your Life"
"Not My Type"
(1994-95)
(detective Stacey Halmora)
Jamie plays a detective (once again, with a typical Irish name; maybe a tribute to "Lady Blue"?). For unknown reasons, Jamie's character was dropped from the show after some episodes.
